Status: The Wild Goose Chase Running Festival is Australia’s newest Multi-Day event held in the picturesque Avon Valley National Park via Gidgegannup in the Perth Hills sharing the trails with an abundance of Kangaroos, Emus, Kookaburras and other native wildlife.
The festival has blossomed into an outstanding selection of trail races from 5k for the kids up to 177k for the Multi-day events with plenty of elevation for each course, in a quintessential Australian bush setting.
With 2 Multi-day events aptly named the Loose Goose (18k, 45k, 22.5k) and the Duck’s Nuts (18k, 106k, 53k), these races are designed to test your grit, determination, stamina, dedication and overall mental insanity levels.
Alternatively, you may wish to race of Flagship single day event, the Wild Goose 106k Ultra accruing approx. 3600m of elevation and a massive 5 UTMB points certified through ITRA, one of only 2 races in Australia to do this on a 100k ish race.
Not to be taken lightly, each race throughout the festival is going to bite you at some stage with technical single goat track, downhill speed descents, creek running and relentless uphills, the festival will undoubtedly create many stories to tell.
The heart & soul for the weekend is centred around the Wild Goose Chase Festival Village at CEC Burrows campground where camping over the 3+ days is encouraged with room for caravans and camper trailers too. Every race starts and finishes here. Bring the kids, sit around the campfires at the end of a hard slog and spin some yarns. A truly memorable weekend for the whole family is promised.
Friday 19 May: 18km Hill Climb
Saturday 20 May: 106km, 45km
Sunday 21 May: 53km, 22.5km
